However, during a cleaning yesterday I checked the gas rings by standing the bolt carrier group on end with the bolt extended. Absolutely no functioning issues since then. Turned it mostly closed and opened until weapon cycled reliably (plus a quarter turn more). Ended up installing an adjustable gas block.

Tried heavier buffers all the way up to an H3 with same issue. Would lose grip of the fired case part way thru the extraction cycle and then the bolt would travel back forward trying to shove the spent case and a live round into the chamber. When I first assembled it to my BCM lower it was seriously overgassed. I' ve had (2) issues with this upper.
